s3Slider jQuery plugin

November 24th, 2008 - Frontend, jQuery

If you need to quickly setup a slide-show with text and links on your website, have a look at s3slider. It’s really lightweight (1.6kb compressed) and the only limitation (most of them out there have this limitation) is images must have the same dimensions. s3Slider plug-in is supported by all the modern browsers out there.

All you have to do is specify an unordered list with your images (there are some rules about the names of the list ids, read the explanation about it) and an empty div. That’s all.

Been looking for this solution using jQuery for like a year now! I was on the verge of tweaking Cycle plugin to show popup captions but now I won’t have too (thankfully).

Cycle is a powerful plugin, i’m using it all the time but s3 seems to work better for stuff like that :)
