Inspiration: web design trends in 2009 (and probably 2010): Where are we heading?
Big photography, huge typography, sketches, nature and sliders. There are other “trends” as well but i believe these are the elements used mostly in today’s web design world and will be used next year as well. In this post I’ve got 4 sites for each of the 5 categories i mentioned earlier.
Sites using big titles
Sites using big images
Sites inspired by nature
Sites using sketches
Sites using sliders
And that would be it. So what do you think? What else do you expect to see this fall and next year?

Some of those “so called” inspiring websites are either based from a template or rip suspicious sites.
Nice one though =)

Sibling Rivalry Wine’s website is beautifully designed. I love every element of it. Very inspiring sites who use these trends beautifully.

What about slab typefaces? They’re pretty popular right now, and I think they’re here to stay for a while.
Ligatures in headlines are nice trick and everyone is using them. Pity they don’t know how to use them properly.
Also, lot of designer who used flash two years ago, now use java scripts. I think this is also a trend. Who knows what information wizards are planning in they’re little companies? Maybe something mixed of both? That would be great.
I predict that next type hype will be serifs again but with even more human approach. Color is back on the market, so I think that next “new” thing will be black, gray and white websites. Minimal and clean with really really subtle Photoshop effects.

Some nice stuff. I think big imagery is one of the many things that has come along with the increase in available bandwidth for most users.
Now to be original and go and find something that doesn’t have any of this in!

A lot of quality sites on this list. I love the semitransparent butterfly background on the Kiki&Bree site.

Any chance you might give me some feedback related to my new design at http://dluz.com
Its more of a developer project (scripts) as I’m not a graphics designer, but I believe that, being around the dev block for 15 years, I’ve put in some good features related to Look-n-Feel, Style-n-Presentation, etc…
I’d welcome your feedback!
TIA,
Rion D’Luz

I agree @ commenter 1. One of the website above is a ripped. I saw the background used before. :D

Clean, bright design with good use of white space should be the new standard. Minimalist design with use of fonts as design itself. This will help speed of loading and that helps with search and Smart Phones accessing the site. Mobile smart phone usage set to explode ie Google HTC Nexus. Tampa Web Design
